Trying to figure what year M3 to buy and Im starting to notice things that are differant between the 95 interiors VS the 96-99. I know the steering wheels are differant, the climate controls are diff, and the illuminated shifter. So my question is there any other differances that im not aware of. Also does anybody have a picture of the electronic device under the radio that tells the speed limit and all the other lil things it does.(By the way what do they call that?) Is that stock in all M3's and are all of them the same in every year from 95-99 M3. And info will help. Thanks in advance.

Well. You pretty much nailed it on the head... except the lighted shift knobs and the three spoke wheels didn't start until 98. As did rear head rests.
The thing under the climate control is called the OBC (On Board Computer)... throughout the entire range of years the M3 was produced, there was a full version, and a half version, which had basic functions on it.

I think the headrests began in either 96/97 rather than 98. Also, I think heated seats were more often included in 97 cars than 98 cars.
Headrests began in 98.
Heated seats on non lux cars were a $500 option and it just depends on how the car was ordered from the factory.
I prefer the 96+ seats and door panels to the 95.
