    AA Track Pipe

I recently bought AA Gen 3 Exhaust and i love it. But already i am looking for something to make it sound even better. I was thinking that i schould add AA Track Pipe to the Exhaust to improve the sound even more, but then i was reading that the track pipe's don't pass emmisions and there for it is not street legal. Is this true and if so should i just get high preformance headers instead?

Yea the track pipe is illegal and not only that but since you are taking off the cat, it makes a really bad smell at idle and for whoever is behind you. However, it will make the sound louder but I don't recommend it unless you are going to track your car quite often. Also since you have the obd2 you won't see any gains in power either.

for 95s they say that you get some gains but i have heard for 96+ it isn't worth the money. It is illegal and is worth 10000 in some states. It does improve the sound but for a mod like that you should be looking for performance gain. Headers will not make that noticble of a difference sound wise on these cars. My cai however gives it a nice sound with some power too.

Headers or a track pipe are not good choices. If you want to change the way the car sounds, change exhaust.

If this is a street car, keep the cats.

hey guys, i have the AA track pipe and exhaust combo and it sounds awesome. however, the one downside the combo is once you add track pipes you lose the ferrari wail like you used to get with stock cats and stock headers. i have ceramic jet hot headers and they are awesome but again they change sound, i kinda miss the old just AA gen 3 exhaust sound. it does sound VERY VERY aggressive with my setup but different, its hard to explain.

My Dad has the AA TP and AA Gen III on his E36 M3 and I'm not that impressed with it. Considering Headers and TP yield little to no gain, your money should be spent elsewhere IMO.

on 95 M3 its well worth the money but on 96+ its waste of money i agree. Then again that is true with almost any OBD1 vs. OBD2 mod.

Again, IT HAS NOTHING TO WITH BEING OBDI vs OBDII. The exhaust systems are different, the 96+ just out flows the 95 system. The cat/center section flows better on 96+, hence why *some* gains are shown on 95's.

i think modifications also make a difference as well. if you have substantial intake mods you may benefit more from free flowing exhaust and etc. so many variables so its hard to say.

The AA exhaust will get louder after you've had it on for awhile. At first mine was quiet, but now it sounds perfect to me. With the windows rolled down I don't need a stereo. I wish I could hear what my exhaust sounds like from outside the car when I put the pedal to the floor. I'll have to get a friend I can trust with the M to punch it for me.

yeah i have my friend do that with me, it took a little while for my aa exh. to break in but now i love it also, im also considering track pipes, but i dont know how bad this smell really is

the "bad" smell is so overrated. its not that bad at all, its smells MUCH better than a catalytic converter going bad (that rotten eggs sulfur smell). If you've ever smelt a 60's muscle car is the same smell. i kinda like it actually, makes the car seems that much more of a true raw sports car. to each his own i guess.
