I really should have asked this question earlier, but when I bought my car 6 months ago, the check engine light was on, and the previous owner said that he had the codes checked several times and found that it was the VANOS sensor unhappy because the Schrick cams were pushing it out of position. So he said that the CE light will be on permanently as long as the cams are in there. The CE light has indeed been on now for the last 6 months. HOwever, I have not had any problems with the engine, so it appears that he is correct. However, I am now led to believe that he did not use the higher pressure injectors with the cams, and am suspicious that perhaps the CE light is on simply because the car is running lean in the higher RPM's. Anyway, if anyone out there with Schrick cams can confirm if their CE lights are on full time, that would be great.

Does installing Schrick cams affect the check engine light?

Nope, schricks will have no effect on the CEL. The vanos was realigned correctly, or the cams aren't installed correctly. You should have no CEL's with schricks, nor will they cause any.
What software does your car have? ACS doesn't make chips, btw. I'd take a close look at your setup. A correctly setup cammed m3 will have a 3.5" hfm, 24 lb injectors, cam tuned chip.

I have had pretty much everyone tell me that AC Schnitzer doesn't make chips, but I opened up the DME and looked at it myself. It does indeed have the AC Schnitzer logo on it and no other ones. Where it came from I truly don't know. However, it is an ACS chip. I am going to be taking the car off of insurance for the winter soon so I won't be driving it much more this season. That will allow me to save up over the winter and bring everything up to snuff before next season.
