climate control illumination

I was wondering if the two big knobs (blower speed settings, mode setting) illuminates? I noticed that the only thing that lights up on the unit are the buttons (a/c, recirculation, defrost) Any help?

Yes they are supposed to. Pop the unit out and replace the light bulbs on the back.

Mine didn't work when I bought the car. Take it out and replace the bulb.



That tends to burn out alot quicker because its always on while the car runs.

The cover just pop-off with a flathead? I'm guessing I have to buy the bulb at a Pep Boys or can I only get it at the dealer?

I too have to replace those bulbs. If anyone has DIY for how to get the HVAC panel and the headlight panel off, that would be great. I don't want to just start strongarming it and break off a bunch of tabs . . . I speak from experience on that one . . . also, are they BMW bulbs or standard bulbs carried at a local Napa, etc?

Pop the unit out of the dash, the lights should be on the back side. Small lightbulbs, I think you can only get them at the stealer.

Just went to the stealer yesterday to get the bulbs for both the climate control and the headlight switch. For some reason their system does not show any part numbers for the climate control bulb. What i did was to get 2 of the headlight switch bulbs and that worked out perfectly. Get the bulbs from the stealer, you can get them both for under a buck. It looks ten times better lit up. :thumbsup:
