    97 M3 Potential Buy

    Hi everyone-

I have always wanted an M3 and finally have the funds to purchase one. I found a 97 locally with 90K on it. The vin is WBSBG932XVEY75773. Anyone have a carfax acct? It is in decent shape but def. was driven. Things I notice are aftermarket intake, exhaust, cd player. Sounds to me like a kid owned this (not a good sign). Anyways I've read up that the waterpumps on these (plastic impeller) need to be replaced, how can I tell if it is original? Anything else to look for? I can run a compression test if needed. Price on windshield is 14,900 but from talking to him it is about 13-14. I offered 12 because the SRS light is on and has a mismatched tire. Any advice? Anyone with a CARFAX account if you run this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks all

No doubt, get a BMW expert to check it out first. I bought a 97 with 95k miles 6 months ago. I was going to pay 12,500 until the expert gave me a list of problems and told me not to pay more than 10k. I ended up getting it for 10,750. An expert will be able to tell you the deducts for each problem and you can back that off the blue book value. Good luck, it is a great car.

Check the FAQ's -- a long list of things to check for.

By '97 I think the plastic impeller issue was dealt with.

Thanks for the input guys, i'll get it on a hoist and check a few things out. Anyone have a chance to run the carfax for a poor college student? WBSBG932XVEY75773
