This has happened to me twice now and I thought maybe someone would have an explanation. I have a Clarion headunit now and twice on cold days, the Clarion has refused to come on when I have started the car. A strange clicking sound has come out of the speakers though until I turned the car off. Then when I restarted the car, everything went back to normal. Any ideas? Could be a ground problem or a short with the power but I don't know why the speakers have the clicking noise coming out of them.

check the grounds but that sounds really wierd.... my clarion comes right on without a problem.. i would say the only thing could be the ground or power... maybe its not getting enough power to turn on properly.. who knows... is it when u remove the faceplate at all or does it matter... -
it doesn't matter if I remove the face plate. I am installing Sirius sat radio over Christmas so I will double check everything then.Comment

aight.. yeah it just sound slike a wire loose... it definitly shouldn't do that.. could be a wire rubbing somewhere to causing a short on the HU..Comment

I vote for the loose wire as well. When you pull the head unit out, keep the wires connected and turn it on. "Jiggle" the wire harness around and see if it goes on and off. Then isolate the wire causing the problem. Also check for a partially blown fuse (rare but possible).Comment

my kenwood kvt 911 dvd acts weird when it gets cold,it always 'resets' itself, so i try to 'shut it off' before i turn off the car, so that it doesnt try to turn on when the car turns on, i dont know why it does it thou, its only when the temperature gets like below 40Comment
