Shaving Weight, Where do I begin?

I'm going to start shaving some weight of my 95' M3 and I just want to know where to start from!

Is it possible to remove P/S? How shorter should I get? I like the feelilng without P/S when you going into turns, loving it on my 90' turboed 325i.

Complete A/C system? Fan Delete Mod? Install custom 16" eletric fan? Sound Deadning? Carbon Fiber Hood & Trunk? Rear seats?

Sounds crazy about removing P/S and A/C but used to it coming from the E30's that never even worked when I bought it, heh!

    Thanks for your guys time!

p/s not sure about. you could pull your a/c but i wouldn't.

the best thing would be ALL your sound deadening insulation again but I wouldn't.

CF hood and truck would help too.

If you want to remove weight, I would look at things other than systems like PS and A/C. CF hood, trunk, fenders, LTW Doors, sunroofless hood skins, racing seats, no backseat, etc...will get you more gains, but also sacrifice alot. However, I know on a hot day i'd rather have A/C and no back seat then vice versa.

Theres also lightweight rims, removing the sound deadening and related tar stuff, lots of things. If you dont need it, take it out.

Sound deadening, body panels, (pretty much what others have said). I wouldn't remove your p/s. Replace your captain's seats w/ sport seats, our stock seats way A LOT (around 70 lbs each I think).

How about the insulation on the inside of our stock hoods...can that crap be pulled out to no ill-effect?

cf hood, trunk, remove the rear seat, replace front seats, change out exhaust to save like 20 pounds, or just take it off, w/e... ltw wheels, take apart the dash, door panels, window motors, sunroof motor, spare tire, sound deadening, glove box, remove fog lights, carpets,

i guess it all depends on what you want ur car to look like.. how extensive you want to get

What are you trying to achieve?? If you have not done so, maybe put some mods on your car.

I get about 285hp out of my car. Set back was around $5000.00.

                Thanks for the input!

I'm definately going to pull A/C system, if it get's to hot, I'll put everything back on. On my E30, the A/C system weighted near 60lb, plus engine bay looks cleaner, I have already removed the cruise control because I never use it since I do city driving 95%. I also removed all the carpeting in the trunk, sound deadning, installed lighter battery, and of course kept spare and tools just incase of emergency.

Where can I find CF trunk?

                Thanks again,

                Amirani P.

I'm trying to make it lighter and quicker without putting too much money into it.

I almost have every bolt on done to it well except, Pulleys, and Cams.

Later on, I'm looking into CF hood, trunk, and maybe Kosei K1s.

                  Thanks again,

                  Amirani P.

If you are going to lose the A/C and P/S you probably can live without that big heavy battery.

Lightweight wheels will improve acceleration drastically. Find some 17-18lb. wheels that look good and are strong (expen$ive) and that will put you on the right track to a fast, light car.

Keep the AC man, whats 50lbs?
