    Functional Sharkfin Antenna

Anyone know where I can find a FUNCTIONAL aftermarket sharkfin antenna? My radio reception really stinks and I think the sharkfin antenna is about as nice looking as it gets.

I've got an artic silver 97 M3 sedan. . . . .the PERFECT family car!!

You might want to try the dealer. You can probably get the one for the e46 and install it on an e36, might be difficult though. If you do it, make sure to post some pics.

In all honesty, the antenna in your rear glass is better. Its more spread out and covers more area than the sharkfin would.

Check the connections to your existing antenna first. They are under the c-pillar trim on the inside. I believe on our cars theres a diode box, as BMW likes to call it. Thats supposed to help boost the signal to the headunit. May want to check that out.

Thanks for the help. I haven't given poor connections any thought.

I ordered one of those sharkfin look-alikes from Ebay just for grins. Thought I'd try to modify it by drilling a hole in it and inserting a stubby antenna.

        Thanks again,

        David

I would just get Sirius or XM satellite radio.
