The best FREE mod I ever did....

...was tightening my throttle cable. If you haven't done it, stop what you're doing and run out to your car and do it!!!!

    Here is my story:

When I got my M3 in July I noticed that the throttle response wasn't quite what I expected and M3 to have. It just felt very non-responsive.

So one sunny day I popped the hood and went searching for the throttle cable. I found it nestled right behind the intake manifold. I followed the cable towards the firewall and sure enough there sat a black cable adjuster. I turned on my car, and went to town. I turned it until i heard the RPM go up, then i backed it off a little. If you decide to do this, throw a little penetrating lube in the cable housing and on the cable, cant hurt

I was amazed with the difference. It felt like a whole new car. And made driving all the more fun. Hope I helped someone

So if you havent done this, go do it.

so your saying you got rid of any slop/play in the pedal before that you feel when you push the pedal before the engine reacts? or is this different?

It took out the play in the throttle when you pushed the pedal in.

I'll have to give that a shot. I feel a bit of play in the throttle too. Never thought that if could be adjusted

Be careful to not tighten it too much, or you will stretch the cable. The best way is to have someone else push the pedal all of the way down while the car is off. Check to make sure the throttle body is opening all of the way (you will see it move while looking to the upper right of the engine bay.

If it opens all of the way, do not tighten the "slop", as you will stretch things. If not opening all of the way, the tighten until it does when the car is floored.

yep. Even after i backed it up there was still a good ammoung of free play in the cable.
