    Finally Happened: Moldings Stolen

Had my moldings stolen last night. i was f***in p*ssed as hell, but im over it now. its just sad to see people steal what they are not willing to earn.

anyways im from los angeles and i go to school in san diego and i have to park in places where automobile enthusiast love to steal. i guess this is life in the wild wild west. :smiley_ab

I know other cars besides BMWs get victimized too. Acuras, VWs and Toyotas also get there badges stolen alot.

Is this a common problem in other states or around the world?

I was goin to replace the m3 moldings with normal e36 moldings, do you guys think this will prevent theft? Or do these b*astards just love stealing moldings?!? :nixweiss:

    if so..... :ratatat:

I'm sorry to hear about the molding being stolen. It is not only in your area. It happens in NY as well. Back to whent he Integra Type R first came out, thiefs ripped the red "A" logo off my car. The same thing happen to the Type S emblem in the Acura.

I hope you didn't get any damage on your car. But to tell you the truth, what is the point of taking the molding. The molding will be useless after one ripped it off the car. It will get wrinke anyway.

Sorry to hear that. I like your response about people stealing what they are unwilling to earn. Zero tolerance for small theft would have an impact on the bigger ones. It worked in NYC from what I hear.

Had my moldings, kidney grills, emblems, mirrors and front and rear bumper covers stolen about 2 years ago in Methuen (25 miles North of Boston). They also tried to pull a door lock but were unsuccessful. They also did a hack job when removing those parts. Luckily i was insure as the bill came to close to $8K when all the painting and repairs were done. Good luck and i guess the best deterent is to have the molding painted, atleast it could only be used on a similar color E36. Unless it is just some kid who wants it to hang in his bedroom. Either way they deserve death!

          :bang:

My only advice is go get a sh!tter and drive that when you know you're going to have to park in bad environments. Sorry to hear about that though. It happens everywhere, just moreso in California (I know). Everything is so expensive out there that the market for used stuff is really good.

                    Sorry to hear about that.

I wouldn't put normal mouldings back on though. They are ugly. The M mouldings rock.

Theft is not only in America, but when I lived in Okinawa I could leave my 180sx with trust front intercooler, trust profect aspec boost controller, Neko ECU, JIC coilovers, I had three sets of wheels, HKS GT2540R turbo, Bride race buckets, Full roll cages etc... Parked in front of my apartment on the street with the windows rolled down and the keys in the ignition and doors unlocked. I wouldnt have any doubt that it would still be there in the morning and I lived on a major thoroughfare connecting oneside of the island to the other.

I had a system in my Teg car locked with alarm park in front of my house and my sub is stolenwith the alarm blarring.
