This is pretty cool for the V1 too. I have it in my no-nav car and got one for my sister who has nav.

Actually, the Passport isn't really upgradeable...that is all bull. They will upgrade the "software", but they wouldn't upgrade my 8500 to an 8500 X-50 for free even though I had this extended contract with them that allowed extra "free upgrades". They claimed the X-50 is TOTALLY different hardware and I'd have to buy a new one.



Then again, the V1 costed 200 bucks to upgrade from the V1.7 to the V1.8...so go figure. 200 bucks is about what I paid for my 8500 anyway.



So, it's kind of up to you. Valentine might charge you dearly for an upgrade, but Escort won't even give you the option.



My detector has saved me from all kinds of things and I do like it. The Valentine is probably better at the cost of more false alarms...I drive a lot in more urban areas, so I can appreciate a detector that doesn't go off every 3.7 seconds.

I know that my passport x-50 has saved me about 10 tickets already, and I've had it hardwired in since the day after christmas.....this morning, I was tooling along at about 50 going through this park near my house, and got pinged.....slowed down and saw him hiding behind a mound of used christmas trees....50 in a 25 would have been a hard pill to swallow!!
