    Door lock wont work automatically....

Whats up all you rude drivers, or so they call us.

Well this may not sound like a big deal, not having the drivers door lock either from the remote or the in cab botton, but I was just wondering if anyone has has had this problem and knows the damage ( to my wallet or car) it will take to have this fixed. I live in north western California and am not sure of a place to get my car worked on, I've had bad luck with the dealership where I baught my 97 M3 sedan back in 97 (Prestige BMW Santa Rosa), seems like they either don't or can't fix things or do damage. (scratch on the passenger door panel leather)

I need other work done as well so if anyone has a shop they can recommend I would be greatful.

    Thanks for your time.

PS: I toyed with a new 330i today on the way to Rosa. It wasn't a serious race but I had fun, or was it the breakin' the law part? The CHP is no joke up here where we have a bit of an open road, ya have ta have sharp eyes and luck. eace:

I'll say with 99% certainy that its your door lock actuator. They arn't too expensive.. maybe around $50 for the part.

You need to take your door apart and the entire lock assembly/door catch out of the door to replace it. As the actuator sits on top of and mates with the lock assembly in the door.

Ok great, I guess. So it will take about a hour of shop time? Anyone know of a shop in Nor Cal that is good? One that wont have me doing this.... :rofl2:

It'll probably be more like 1.5 - 2.5 hours.. as the entire door has to come apart.

Most likely the actuator, and is very easy do replace. When the door panel and inner liner is removed remove the 3 T30 torxs bolts that hold on the catch and lower then

find the plastic box on top, and release the plastic box via a clip on the back.
