    How to remove foglights?

Ok, well, one of my foglight bulbs went out, so I went and bought a new one. I was sure that I read online before how to change them, I must have forgot. I went about it the way i thought i was suspose to, and I'm pretty sure i broke a bracket that snaps the light housing into place. I attached a pic of what I think i broke, and if ya'll need more pics just tell me.

yup, the white circled thing is a bracket of the housing that broke. so, if you are taking them out, it is very simple. you get a flat head screwdriver, put it in the hole in the brake duct tunnel, put the screwdriver in at an angle, then pull towards yourself. it should just pop out very easily, you should not put a lot of force onto the clip, or you will get results like the pic you posted.

Yup, it is very true that it wont snap back in too... I guess I will have to go foglightless for a while. Is it possible to buy that little piece by itself that I broke? I always end up scewing something up, even when doing something as simple as changing a bulb. :banghead:

no worries, i hit a dog, it broke my fog light bracket, and now i have both fog lights taken out. i've gotten over the look, but i dont think you can just get the plastic piece, b/c i broke mine also. just look on ebay for a good deal.

You'll need to buy an entire new foglight bracket and replace it.

i was lookin at the pic again and thinking about it. i don't think you'll need a new foglight. as long as the black plastic on the back of the foglight is still intact, all you need is a new bracket. they run cheap too, just not at the stealership. but if you can, take a pic of the back of your foglight and i can see if it needs replacing or not.

i dont know if they are symmetrical but i have a spare of a driver's side. i actually thought i lost it and ordered a whole bracket but i later found that it just fell in a nook!! amazing how it didn't get lost cause i'd be driving a long time with it.

                      siruis....brrrrr....it's cold in virgina!!!

Do you really have to replace the whole bracket assembly? My last M had fogs that frequently fell out on hard bumps, so was this because the guy didn't replace the whole bracket?
