    Lighted Shift Knob Install

I just bought a lighted //M shift knob from someone. I'm having a difficult time with the install since I don't have instructions. My first problem is removing the leather boot. I'm affraid of ruinning my center console. Does this leather boot just pop off the console, or do I have to remove the trim around the boot too?

Also, has anyone tapped into the cigarette lighter for power? How difficult was this. The knob I bought has two separate flat metal connectors with plastic covers around each one.

I have heard that it is best to run the wires to the dimmer switch area, but I would really rather not have to go through all that. Also the wires attached to the knob are only about a foot long, so I would have to rewire the knob.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

The leather book snaps out, squeeze the sides and pull up.

I tapped the power to my window switch. If you have a good lighted knob (oem), the wires will match up with the ones you need to splice.

There was actually a freewire in my console that looked like it was cut. I ended up cutting the male end off the wires from the knob and just spliced it together.
