Dam, f-that! Trevor, I have the permit, its easy and you can get it in one day ( saturday ). I never shot a gun b4 and I got 96% accuracy w/ a Glock 9mm. :ratatat:
My brothers G/F's dad is a big gun nut, he has a conecled permit and is always strapped. He took us shooting. We didn't shoot his glocks, but we shot his 9mm sig, .45 sig, a six shooter and a .22.
He explained how to get it, but I have forgotten. :banghead:
Va is a good state for guns, as its a must give state. Unless you're a fellon or on drugs, you can get one.

I would boil over with blood lust if I was threatened that way. Glad it ended good for you. Too bad they got away to find another victim. Don't know what I'd do after that, but a gun is not an option in Canada unless you are a criminal (the only ones that carry up here). The closest I've come to a force field was a 105 pound Bouvier dog that told me she would die trying to beat off evil doer's.

Please forgive me here for going somewhat off topic, but this is important.
Let me start off with a little background. I am not a gun freak, survivalist, or badass, I'm just your average joe. I'm not paranoid, but my home has been robbed, and I've had a car and a mototcycle stolen.
I think much like taking a driving class if you want to drive fast, you should have propper instruction if you are thinking about owning, and using a gun. I've taken a few tactical handgun and tactical knife courses in the past couple of years at a local gun range. (I have a friend who is a gun freak) Some of the students were regular joes like myself, and some were Police officers. The advanced handgun courses are quite hard, and passing them requires hours of practice, drawing your gun, aiming, squeezing the trigger, or more importantly not squeezing the trigger. Knowing when and what to do is very difficult, and that's with instructors in a class environment, not with someone threatening your life. I am not the best shot in the world, but the training I've been through more than makes up for that. The concealed handgun permit class here in Texas, and my guess all over the country is a complete joke. It's a sad start of affairs that anyone with a 2nd grade education can get one, and the shooting part of the permit is as much of a joke as the written test.
I could carry my gun, but I don't for a number of reasons. You never want to leave it in your car, if it gets stolen when you are in the bar, bank, resturaunt that serves alcohol etc.(no guns & alcohol) you're going to have some serious explaining to do, not to mention guilt when your gun kills someone. If you run into any trouble with someone, having a gun is going to instantly escalate things to a deadly level. If you pull your gun, you'd better be ready to kill someone, and that's a hard decision to make in a split second. I know that I would kill someone to protect myself or my family, but my car, no way.
I have a small openblade bootknife that lives in my M, attached to the drivers door map compartment cubbie thing. If someone grabbed me through the window, they would have a hard time getting it back without being sliced up. It is not quite as effective as a gun in some circumstances, but it is enough for me.
I would encourage anyone thinking about carrying a gun to take some good tough classes, and spend a little time thinking about what they are getting into. Know that the decision you make could cost you your life, or the life of a friend, family member, or innocent bystander.

I was born and raised in the rockey mountains of Montana. Guns are all around. **** sometimes the only thing to do was go shootin. The only reason i dont have a gun right now is becasue i remember the first thing my father told me when i was learning to shoot. "never point a gun at anyting unless you intend to kill it." There is nothing here i want to kill so i have never owned one here. Guess my best bet would to just be careful and keep that grizzly bear pepper spray under the seat. hehehe

You are right on. A shot of pepper spray to the eyes and they will get off the car pretty quick. I would still report it to the police just incase someone else has been or will be attacked. They might already have a license plate and need a car description.

I noticed some people are telling you that handing over the keys is a good idea. I disagree. You did the right thing. Unless there's a gun to your head, NEVER hand the car over. I can guarantee that they were more interested in kicking your ass than taking your car. I had to stop driving with my windows down. I get in too many confrontations. People just like talking ****, and if that doesn't work like they planned, then they'll try and start something. One thing's for sure though, the M is a great car to get you out of that situation in a hurry. Glad you're ok!
