    Nos?

    Hey Guys,

I am interested in putting a NOS fogger system in my car, but am a little worried bout where to place the tank. It is a 100shot, and the tank is one of the big ones. I have heard that putting it in the trunk could be vey hazadours if hit, but I guess that goes for anywhere in the car. But what would ya'll recommend bout where to put it!

NOS is not dangerous to have in the car in terms of it blowing up or being hit. It is not flammable in the tank, nor is it explosive.

100 shot is kinda alot..are you sure you want to run that big of a shot? I am not sure about which kit is which...but I almost want to say Fogger kits are "dry" kits...a TERRIBLE idea on our cars. If you are going to run any kind of nitrous make sure the kit is a wet kit.

The trunk should be a fine place to mount the bottle...if you put it in the backseat we will as a forum excommunicate you. :rofl2: Make sure the bottle is mounted with the pickup facing down....better said with the nozzle pointed towards the floor, and the rear of the bottle up in the air slightly.

Hope this helps...my advice would be no NOS at all...but if you must then go with a 50shot or at most a 75 shot.

wow - a 100 shot bottle would be huge. when you do bolt the mounting straps down, make sure you bolt it on sheet metal (in the trunk)- and not just the carpet floor board.

as Richard said, no NOS would be better.

        Richard,

Heres the deal, I am buying a a 95 M3 and the nos is already installed, so I can't really change how big of bottle or anything like that, I was just curious if it is ok in the trunk. I this it is a Wet/Dry system, if it is already installed, how wouldit be to take it out? My mom watched "El fast and Furious" and bout had a heart attack when the Eclipse blew cuz of the NOS! So, is it really worth having or is bad on the motor? Thank alot Richard

The "passenger floor pan drop-out" is a common side effect of too much nos. :rofl2: Yeah.....Nos is not going to catch fire or explode in the trunk...not to worry.

Wet/Dry?? I would run it only wet...if at all. A dry system is just too hard to get running just right...and not to mention most anybody who sells NOS kits for our cars sells 50 shot wet kits (just so much easier to be safe with).

Taking it out shouldnt be a terribly big deal depedning upon where the jets are mounted and how they were mounted. (you may need to replace the intake elbow if the jet was drilled into it..things like that)..however it shouldnt pose any problems if you try to remove it.

It isnt terribly bad on the motor as the stress it applies is only momentary and not terribly often (unless you like to spray a whole bunch or just purge at traffic lights. ). It isnt neccessarily a bad thing..I just would never do it to my car. You run a risk of running super lean and grenading the motor with a Dry kit..and a wet kit, though safer, still can provide some issues.

I think the only application where I would endorse NOS is on HUGE turbo Supras or any car with a t67 and up. In this case the NOS is only sprayed at lower RPMs in order to get the turbo spooled much faster, and therefore provide power at a usable RPM.

I guess if the kit is already installed it doesnt hurt anything to leave it installed..and even spray once in awhile...but to buy and install a kit on an m3 is not a good idea.

Also, the tank size has nothing to do with the Shot of nitrous entering the engine....it all relies on the jet size and how much NOS it can spray. Typically bigger Shot kits like a 100 have a bigger tank because they use more nitrous and would empty a smaller tank fairly quickly. If you replace the jets you could have a 50shot kit that would last a good while.

Hah in Fast and the Furious, they shot at the car dude, so im sure you will be fine unless your a regular at gun fights......

Actually i saw a show where they tested that shooting at a GAS tank would NOT explode when shot at, but i am not sure about a PRESSURIZED nitrous bottle.

It would be a bad idea to shoot at a tank that so highly pressurized...no flames..but definantly some bursting would come of that.
