    CD changer question

Guys...my father, for christmas, bought me a gift certificate at the local dealership for a CD changer for my trunk. The certificate is good for any bmw lifestyle product etc. The changer made for my car doesn't play cd-rw, mp3's, wave files and all of that. Since I have a relatively large collection of music in those formats, I'd prefer a changer that'll play em. Also, since I already have this paid for, I'd prefer not to change out the head unit for another, although I've considered it....I'd rather spend that money on maybe a CAI or maybe another performance mod. So my question is this: are you aware of any cd changers at the stealer that will fit my car (it's pre-wired) and play all the formats...maybe one for a newer model? Are the plugs the same? The stealer part guy didn't know, the accessory manager is on vacation so I can't hit her up. Though I would ask you guys to see if anyone has one or is in the know? As always, I appreciate your help.

Dealers really mark up their CD changers compared to aftermarket or Ebay useed. Don't know specifics on what BMW players will accept. I'd go Ipod and or mod of your choice.

I don't know about a Factory CD changer, but they can install and aux plug for you. Of course, it'll cost a fortune. They do have a replacement head unit that will work with CD in dash and aux input (or so I was told last time I looked into this at my dealer), but that too is even more expensive.

Um yes the factory changer does play CD-R's with WAV files on them. MP3's no. I'd just spend it on service next time your car needs it or something.

go with aftermarket audio in your car... you wont look back after you hear it.
