Anyone know if the new Suede "competition" E46 wheel will fit? I love that thing, even if I would never go to the trouble to wire all the buttons.

No the airbag wont be compatible. You can put the new wheel in..just not the airbag. :wave:

IIRC, one of the members here fitted a Z4 steering wheel to his E36... can't remember who though.

The Euro wheel is oem. Here are the part numbers:



Wheel:

32-34-1-092-050



Airbag: 32-34-1-092-762



Column bracket:

32-31-1-162-088



Search here and bimmerforums and there are several threads with links to installation instructions.



Some people get the wheel from private parties or on ebay. I went through KOPerfomance and bought new OEM pieces.

IIRC, he got the Z4 wheel mounted up and working, but I think he was still working on the airbag issue.

Its just too dangerous IMO, to mod the slipring to get the e46/z4 wheels to work.

There is no limitation other than your wallet and your imagination, believe me i'd know. you can retrofit any OEM BMW steering wheel you one, some just require more modification than others. I for example have Z4 steering wheel conversion and I will soon switch over to the Alcantara suede CSL M3 steering wheel.
