Before I post this, I can not take credit for this easy fix.
Like many of you, I have looked at different options on fixing
this very annoying rattle usually located in the rear deck area.
I was actually going to tear apart the rear deck this weekend
and dynomate the entire sheet metal area this weekend in
an attempt to fix the problem once and for all.
Anyways... yesturday, I read a post by another member who
stuffed pillow cotton into the holes found in the trunk that
lead up to the rear deck and speaker area. I went to Wal-Mart
and browsed their Linen area and found pillow filler which costed
about $1.85 for a huge roll. I began to stuff this filler into the
5 main holes found through the trunk. I concentrated alot of
filler on the center hole and the remaining filler was stuffed
near both speakers. Overall time, 10 minutes at the most!
I took my vehicle out at about 10:00PM with the temp at
about 35 degrees. No rattle. My MD player was off so I could
listen carefully. I then turned on my MD player and faded
all the sound to the rear and had my bass on +10, no rattle.
On my way to work this morning, the temp was around 25
degrees. Most of you guys know that at this temp, the rattle
is out of control. With the music off for about 10 minutes of
the drive, no rattle is to be found! At first I was very pessimistic
about this easy fix, but I'm sold. The pillow filler expands
between the sheet metal and rear deck causing any loose rattles
to go away. Try it out.
Now for the real problem, suspension overall in the next month!
