Anyone replaced valve retainers on their 95

Ive been reading some info about '95 models needing their valve retainers replaced after about 50K miles or they can fail and cause engine damage. Well....mine has 52K and I figure now is a good time to throw some better ones in. I was wondering if anyone had done this before and what brand of retainers they went with.

This was only a problem on the early-run production '95's (not sure the exact production date) and was fixed for the later production '95s

Yea, well my car was produced in august so I have the old retainers. Was kinda hoping to find someone who had done it already.

How can you tell if they are worn or bad before a possible kaboom? Im a 07/95 w/ 90k. :nixweiss:

Let me tell you that I have over 134k miles on my 95 I think 8/95 and well I have taken it to redline (this is where your valve retainers fail/ you float valves) many of times. And also have raced it for 30 mins at a time where 80% was WOT.

No need to replace whats not broken.

I've got just over 100K on an August production car and drive her pretty hard and have not had any problems. When I do my cams I plan on changing them out while I'm in there for prevenative reasons. I think it'd be a waste of money to tear into your valve-train like that simply for the retainers if they aren't messed up.

You won't know anything's wrong until you start bending valves.. and by then it's too late.

it was my understanding that it was a pre 10/94 problem. Great for me since I have a 9/94. I have been looking for someone that has done this too with no luck. I have 57k and want it done.
