I was at CityPlace (A fancy schmancy high end shopping place) tonight w/ the wife and ended up at Barnes and Noble. So anyway as I was drinking my Starbucks I wandered over to the magazine section and p/u Automobile Magazine. I turned to the column by David E Davis which IMO is a brillant car mag editor and test driver, even though the magazine he works for blows. He was listing the past few years of Car of the Year and these were the EVO for 2004, 03 was the WRX, 02 was the Z06 and various Porsches, Toyotas ,etc until he got to 1995 which was the M3.
He then went on to say the E36 M3 was the best all around car of ALL TIME and it would be the car he would pick to drive the rest of his life if he had to actually pay for it. He had a strong affinty for all the ///M cars but the E36M was the best of the best due to its perfect 50/50 balance, spot on gearing which gives it the punch off the line of a AWD car w/o the weight, the best all around handleing street car ever tested and the incredible steering feel the car gives you which has never been duplicated by any manufactor for any price. The S50 motor has the perfect combo of light weight, compact fit, military like precision and Tq that is avail anywhere in the range and sounds great while doing it.
The fit and finish is top of the line, the seats are the best stock seats ever put in a road going car, the gauges are easy to read and straight forward, the car in a word is perfect. ok nuff said, long live the E36 ///M woo hoo!
Oh and Kimmy ended up buying "The Art of Seduction" oh yeah!! :agree:
