Kinda pricey, but West Coast prices are higher. Looks nice from the pics.

Inspection is a must, glad you're doing it.

Check the FAQ section if you haven't already, there is a thread there on what to look for in a used E36.

Sammy is correct re mods -- those are what are known as "bolt-on" mods, relatively easy to install/remove and don't affect the internal workings of the engine. Non bolt-ons would be such things are cams or turbo.

I work in software sales so I am a bit of a shark myself, and I know that Caveat Empror is always the order of the day.

Love the use of term, it's spelled caveat emptor

Man that stuff is EXPENSIVE! Is Phadreus a dealer? I'm sure you could get most of that done for less $ or do it yourself.

I recently bought new belts for ~$50 total and plan to replace them myself(real easy from what I've read).

Rear shock mounts are ~$90 for the high quality Ground Control ones(also fairly easy)

An oil plug is $120 :bs: Wow.....I'd hope I could find one for cheaper, or else I'd make one, lol.

I'm not sure about that other stuff, but I'm guessing it can all be done for less.

Since the car isn't exactly in "IMMACULATE CONDITION", you could use those things to talk him down. It does look like a beautiful car though.

Well the oil plug is thread repair. Jiffy lube or whoever changed their last oil used a plug that was too big and have damaged it.

Just talked to the garage. He said there was also a shortened clutch stop and that only $700 of the stuff needs to be done now, the rest in the next 10-15K. So it sounds like it's just standard wear and tear. Also commented that the engine was really strong.

Phadreus is an independent service center and according to my B owning friends well worth extra coin.

As for the latin, please excuse my typo...

Well, baring any unforseen circumstances, I become the owner tomorrow. An offer for $17K was made and accepted.

Congratulations! You've just obtained a hobby, as well as a car!

Agree with the post about pricing, for the sake of your wallet I'd find another place to do routine maintenance, or you won't have any $$ for all your mods...

You are gonna love it. I went from a 98 Chevy Malibu to an ///M3.........nuff said? Wait till you experience what real torque feels like!

Watch out though. The car's comfortable cruising speed is somewhere between 90 and 100mph. Your first mod ought to come from a company like Escort or Valentine.

Comedy moment - some guy at a light in downtown SF trying to race me. He was driving a PT cruiser....
