tranny swap question. urgent!!!!

my mechanic is doing the swap for me. its a 99 M3. he finished everything and went to start it and it started then shut off after 2 sec. the car starts but shuts off after 2 sec. what is the problem? is it the clearing of the computer? (not sure if he did that) also, my key is new, someone told me there is a trick taht you do to program the key to your computer? (not sure if that is true) what can it be? its starts then shuts off after 2 sec. is it some sort of anti-theft?

if he did the tranny swap, but did not change the ECU programming, that has to be the problem.



Out of curiosity, how much did the whole process run you?

he cleared the computer. just wanna know if there is any other stuff that can make this happen? it starts, then shuts off right away.

i havent paid for the work yet but i supplied all teh parts because i parted out a smashed M3.

Clearing it wouldn't be enough I think. It would need a new program. I could be wrong, but this makes sense to me.

yes, but if that was the issue, the car wouldn't start at all I think.
