Quick help, what would race gas do for me?

I have to get gas today, as usual I am at work and I get gas here in the city due to its alot cheaper than out by the beach where I live , anyway the Sunoco station down the street carries race fuel, I "think" it's 100 or 103 octane. Now if I fill up w/ this whats gonna happen? will I get a fast shot of power, will it possibly hurt my engine? or none of the above and will not see anything different at all?

Also what about a 50/50 mix of say Premium 93 oct and the race gas?

HOLY CRAP did you guys just see the big wreck at Vegas? Dale Jr took a hard hit into the wall.

Not much. You'll see an a bit of power, but the car had to adjust to the gas first.

to me its just not going to be worth it.. i mean how much power are you going to see.. 3 rwhp? lol if that.. :chair:

Absolutely nothing on a stock car, well you would get excess carbon buildup in time.

What about a 25% mix on a Forced Induction car?

I'm no expert but I think you would deffinitely see a decent bump in power.

well.. i believe with a high octane fuel, you would be able to turn up the boost a bit which would allow the increase in power.. less probability of predetonation..

Isn't that stuff leaded? It may be bad for the cats... if you have cats.

Race gas alone will do nothing.

Race gas works well on forced induction or tunable NA cars because it allows you to advance timing and run a bit higher boost without detonation.

On a stock car the only thing it is going to do is lighten your wallet

:agree: my //M doesn't reslly get a buzz of it - but the Audi does. when the temperature gets warmer, and higher boost is required like @ track events race gas is a must. here in CA, the fuel is oh so wonderful - detonation is an everyday thing.

I don't think that it is within the stock software to handle 100 octane gas so really if anything, the car may not run as well.

To realize gains from the higher octane, you'd need change the software on the ECU.

Another issue is if you are going to put higher octane in you stock car you better make sure you are very very low on Empty.

The ecu will learn and advance timing, a bit, for the higher octane, but if it gets a batch of 100 and advances, then its followed by a quick batch of 91 you can blow your car. There in lies the danger, also, of putting in 100 for a tank, your ECU learns, then you switch back to 91 and bam...same trouble.
