How does my 14.515 in the 96 STS Match against an M3

Just ran a 14.515 in my 96 STS, how does that compare to the same year M3? The pass was at 95.60 MPH

A good driver could drop that into the 13's with over 100 at the trap.

I'd say that was a pretty strong run for the STS! I did some web searching and found typical claims of 15.1s. Typical post for M3 is 14.2s. One site says 6.4 0-60 / 14.7s 1/4 mile for 96 STS and 5.5 / 14.0s for M3.

No too bad for an old Caddy Northstar engine then. What are the fastest unmodified M3's, what year/model etc?

The fastest stock M3 is the current production ('01-present). It's designated e46 by BMW. 333hp, 0-60 in 4.7, 1/4 in low 13's, trap at 105

Keep in mind that M3s are not drag cars. They are made to go around corners really quickly. That's where we'd really blow the Caddy away.

That's a nice time considering 300HP is going trough the front wheels. Is it modified? I didn't think any stock FWD caddy save maybe an Eldorado ETC could run that.

Hard to Mod N* engine, but mine is well Maintained. The new STS-V is supercharged and it will do the 1/4 in 13 flat. Faster than the CTS-V and some vettes for that matter.

What happens when you turn the steering wheels though

Just kidding man...it just seems funny running a caddy against an M3. Try taking an M3 for a spin sometime for kicks; it's a very very different experience than your car. Sometimes I forget that other people think my car is "fast". I'm all about the turns.

I don´t think so, 13,... are E46 343 full equipped times ... no way a stock US spec do that.

Purple ran a 13.9 fully stock.

Those 300 hp caddy etcs really put down about 170 hp to the Front wheels. Incredible drivetrain loss.

That sounds like alot of loss of power, but I know my car is fast for a 4,000 pound 4 door car and 14.5 is respectable when it comes to a 96 Model

I agree, even simple jobs are hard on Northstars. Try changing the starter on one of those. They buried the damn thing under the intake manifold inside the engine.

Trick is to get a 2X4 wedged in under it, then take out the starter. After taking 11 bolts off
