    321hp motor in 286hp car?

Both euro spec. Has anyone allready done that? Is it just plug&play or is there any major complication?

    Thanks

s50b30 is almost as strong as s50b32 and has way less vanos problems. dump swap IMO.

I am aware of that, but the original motor has "broke" and i have bought a 321hp 3.2l motor. It came complete with motor wiring and ecu.

I am a bit insecure about the whole thing and i would like to hear a second opinion from somebody who has allready done it/knows how to do it.

hmmm... I also have a 286 hp and from my point-of-view it's not worth it for 10% power gain... It's said that by installing the M3 GT cams and replacing the six intake air ducts for the 3.2's air ducts you can make almost the same power.

But since you've already got it, I say go for it. The only concern I'd have is with the instrument cluster possibly not working, but other than that, I can't see what woud go wrong.

Here's a link to a step-by-step description of someone who swapped a US-spec engine for an euro engine: http://www.racepad.com/projects/euro_motor_project/euro_motor_project.htm Could have some interesting information for you.

I'm interested in knowing what caused your current engine to break, though, please share.

Cbraga, thanks for the link  Nice description!

My 3.0 engine had a bearing "meltdown" on the third rod. It started making noises, i stopped, but it was allready too late. The engine had cca. 100000kms, it was driven on a racing track just three times. What surprises me is that other parts of the engine are like new, including other bearings on the rods. This happened after reaching top speed (just for a few seconds!) on the highway, when i left the highway.

The car was properly maintained, had enough oil and was allways driven warm before pushing.

I did not use the GT oil pan and pump, maybe that is the reason.

Regarding the 3.0 and 3.2 engines... I also prefer the 3.0 engine, because it is far more driver-friendly on the track, but the 3.2 engine has more power and you can feel it.

Hold on your car is a GT M3 ? ? the GT oilpan and pump is already on the engine .

The 3.2 is alot more revable and peaker, that said its throttle modulation can be difficult because it is so responsive. The 3.0 lotre however is the more mechanically sound engine. If you have a GT you do not want to put a Evo engine in there.

              @Predator

I also have a GT , but in this thread i am talking about my track car, a dakar-gelb M3 3.0.

I would never do such thing as transplant an unoriginal engine into my  GT.

I am mostly concerned about the compatibility of the 3.0-3.2 (electrical) wiring. I dont want to fry the ecu or so.

then other than gearbox it should be straight forward swap, you got 3.2 ECU, wiring and Engine , so basically that can all work together, it should have no problems in your 3.0 litre !

Where about are you ! !

I was wondering did you get GT rear wing raisers ? also why do we have non digital air con ?

Gearbox is no problem, as it is the same 5-gear as used on M-coupes.

                  I am from Slovenia, Europe.

I got the wing raisers(but they were bought additionally) , but although i am not the first owner i think it was optional.

All pre-96 M3s(3.0) were fitted with manual aircon. Some people upgraded their aircons to automatic ones, but that is not original anymore.

I live in Egypt and have already done this transplant without any problems. I have also tried the 6 gears box , but found the 5 gears box slightly better in acceleration but you miss the low rev quitness of the 6th gear ..
