    Help With My Xtec Hid

I have been having this problem lately with my driver side HID firing up. Most of the time it fires up perfectly but sometimes it takes like 20 min to go which sucks when im in a hurry. The other night it just did not want to fire up, also the little black circle thing on the ballast came off :banghead: ??? I dont know what it is or what is does but i didnt want to lose it in the engine bay so i put it in my car. The ballast is making this weird buzzing sound when i try to fire them up. It finally started working after 40 min and the buzzing sound is gone when the fire up, but when they dont it just buzzes. Anyone have any solution. I pmed UMNITZA and im sure he will help out but seeing if anyone else is having this problem

umnitza doesn't deal with xtec anymore...you'll have to talk to Jim Powell or XtecUSA directly.

It could simply be a bad ballest. They are high voltage componets that will wear out.

i understand that they will wear out, but only 3 months of use is highly doubted?

should i do that before opening up the ballast then? I was trying to avoid replacement but if i open it and it voids the warranty i will be PO.

What is the warranty anyway on these things???

                Thanks for the help

Xtec bulbs and ballasts are both covered by a lifetime warranty. I wouldn't open it... at least without talking to Jim first.

I have the hid fogs from umnitza with the xtec ballast, and have the exact problem of which you speak.

I was so SURE that it was a bad ballast, I shipped it back to umnitza and got a free replacement.

The new ballast worked for about a couple weeks, now I have the same problem!!!!!!!!!!!!

VERY frustrating. The buzzing makes me wonder if there isn't some interference happening at the +/- PNP. I'm going to solder the connection, and if that doesn't work, I don't know what else to do. I love the appearance and the improved visibility with the hid's when they're working, though...

Let me know if you get any answers from xtec...
