auto trans upshift in "2"

Hi - I'm a grateful new n00b, and I want to thank all of you on these threads for your valuable info.



I'm fixing stuff on my new old '95 M3, and I want to doublecheck something. My auto (yes, it's an auto - the first one I've ever had) won't upshift from 1st to 2nd when in "2" after a standing start (it downshifts fine from 2nd to 1st when engaging "2" from higher rpm). The gears themselves work fine, so it's something electronic/programming related I guess.



Any thoughts?

If you have it in 2, then it'll stay in 2nd as long as it can.



The auto tranny is weird. Especially if you have sport mode selected. The programming will keep the tranny in a lower gear longer than the E mode will.
