So i parked my car and took out the key, but it kept running! I wanted to turn it off so i just stalled it to see if it would somehow fix itself. The car still thinks that the key is in the ignition, i was able to start it again by popping the clutch without using the key and rolling down a hill. I tried putting the key back in and turning it, but its locked except for that free spin thing that some of you know about. Please someone help!

I've read about this common problem on "other" forums. I was thumbing through the records for my car and saw that the original owner must have had the same issue, but fixed it himself. Try here (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=228406&highlight=lock+cylinder) From what I can tell, you need a new tumbler, hopefully nothing more.
