I know SunBelt and the Cams are real. There is currently a lot of debate amongst the E36M3 BMWCCA Club Racers concerning the legality of the cams. Specifically, SunBelt is specing pistons with deeper valve reliefs in order to provide a margin of safety given the cams' huge lift/duration. BMWCCACR has already DQed 1 fellow having done this and most racers have changed classes to avoid getting caught. SunBelt claims the revised pistons are NOT necessary but BMWCCACR is not convinced and has proposed ruling that they feel will effectively ban these. We'll see. Perhaps you will want to wait a few months as slightly used cams/pistons may become available rather cheap....
As to SunBelt, their reputation grew out of work with Speed World Challenge engines and continues to grow with Grand AM. While Chuck Stickley used to be the builder of choice for money no object engine builds, SunBelt now holds that title. For example, an obstensibly stock US S50/52 rebuild for BMWCCA CR Prepard class (cams only thing changed) will run @$10.000 yet pull about 315 on the dyno at the crank. I know of SWC 32x engines 2,5l running @$40.000 w/o MoTeC/EFI brains....
