I replaced mine. Forgot what size they are. 5 and a 1/4 maybe? There are aftermarket options. Just take a speaker out and size them at an audio store. :P
don't stick to 5 1/4" just cuz it's the same size. it's not the end-all-say all size of from kickpanel speakers you can use.
those speaker sizes lack mid-bass. if you go with a 6 1/2" component you'll be very pleased with the output. you must dremel around the mounts to enlarge the mounting area...then dynamat hte crap out of it...and of course vacuum the metal scraps.
also...you can buy speaker pods...kick panels replacements, that house up ot 6 1/2" speakers...i bought my set from cardomain.com for under $100 bucks. I have them in my M right now...but they are being sh$t canned soon, and i'll be doing that dremeling technique. the kick panels take away your deadpedal. =( anyway...they realllllllly improve the imaging of your speakers. i just want my deadpedal back tho.
what dougy said. stock replacement with no work at all is 5 1/4 but and its a BIG BUT. if you really want nice mid bass in the front get at least 6.5 i have mcintosh mss650 which has 6.8 inch mids and they fit perfectly with a little time and effort. also dynomat and use a lot of polyfill. i still have not heard a front setup that sounds clearer or punchy as this setup.
