    Switch behind gas pedal

Just noticed there's a switch/plunger thing behind the gas pedal. What's it do?

It's there to prevent the throttle cable from ripping.

Is there a kickdown on automatics to downshift or is that just from the TPS? Not sure if these cars have one.

If there's not (or yours isn't an automatic) it's a bolt coming up just to prevent you from pushing the gas too far and causing the throttle body to hit its limit and the cable to rip (or worse, break the TB).

You sure that's not just the pedal stop?

It's not a stop. It actually presses down.

Must be an auto thing... :shifty:

Or you're pressing down too hard... :laughhard:

must be an auto thing so it down shifts.

The antecedent of "it" being "the automatic transmission", right? :rofl3:

It automatically downshifts into a lower gear for more "passing power."

Once my oil temperature has climbed enough even I've been known to put the hammer down on occasion. :shiftdriv

You can't help but grin from the instant response you get from the motor as the throttle butterflies snap open.
