Hmmm... so I went on a hunt to find out which control arms I'd purchased. I thought I'd bought them from Turner... but their site has no user account system so I can't check order history. And I couldn't find an email, either. The part number they have listed for the control arms they sell is the '95 part number. Which I guess wouldn't make sense since, if I had the 95 control arms, I should be doing alright.

Guess I should check the part number on the control arm itself.

What I did find was my Bimmerworld receipt, where I bought the Treehouse bushings... 10/95. So I guess it's been 3 years. Oh how time flies.

    I appreciate all the help!

Maybe that has something to do with the noise when you were on the rally.

i had this issue because of intentionally using the offset powerflex fcabs, the going to 17x9's and running out of room. may i suggest the uuc bushings over the p-flex. i'm very satisfied with the fitment and performance they offer.

I oredered centered powerflex bushings from bimmerzone for my 97 M3, but bimmerzone "corrected" my order and sent me the offset ones saying that they are for the M3.:clueless:

On their website it says the offset bushings are for the M3. The wheel is awfully close to the front, although I am still running stock contours in 225/45 in the front so no problems scraping or rubbing.

Bwahahahahaha.... sorry... 10/05, not 10/95... all the talk of '95s got me confused.

Edit: PS, car is an 11/97 built '98.

Nah... that noise went away. It kinda came back but not in such a screachy way... now, at about a 3-10 mph roll it'll squeel the normal way brakes squeel -- except it does it only when the brakes are off. I can make the squeeling go away by riding the brake softly. Heh... I think I need to rebuild my calipers... I'm suspecting the piston isn't moving freely.

Although the offset wheel issue did give me problems on the rally... I think taking some of the turns at 100+ caused the wheel to rub on the wheel well rubber liner. Another car had to pull up to us to tell us that we had something flapping in the wind (the rubber liner)... it had to be duct taped for the last 2 or 3 days of the rally.

Yeah, thats wrong. I'd be pissed if they sent me the wrong ones or wrongly informed me on something like that....

Glad to find this post. My front wheels are doing the exact same thing, except that none of my LCA's or LCAB's have ever been changed. I first noticed the difference last year. One other thing is that the driver's side wheel is closer to the front than the passenger's wheel with 1/4" difference, so the passenger's side is still too close to the front. Here's a pic of the driver's side:

Wow look at the rubber buildup on the fender. Mine sit forward a little bit. Was this gradual?

Sounds like your LCABs are in need of changing, if not the whole LCA. Have you checked them?

Edit: could also be a botched coilover install, but that looks like some seriously bad LCABs.

I will look into the LCAB's and such even though I don't know how to tell if there are no leaks--which there isn't.

As for a botched coilover install, this wouldn't be the case as my coilovers have only been on the car for a couple weeks and I've had this issue for about a year.

One other thing. When pulling into my garage straight, and I stand directly in front of the car I can tell that one tire suffers from toe-out misalignment over the other. To me, it's pretty obvious that the tire points outward while the other one does not.

It's been a year since I started this thread, but I figured I'd add my followup in case anyone just happened to come across this thread with the same problem.

I swapped out the Treehouse bushings with the UUC "ultimate front control arm bushing" (the hybrid bushing/bearings) and the caster is back to normal.

So I guess I'll be selling a pair of Treehouse bushings soon... though I have no idea how much they'd be worth now.

I have since replaced my LCAB's with some improvement. This week, the LCA's are getting replaced. Other items in the frontend getting replaced are the outer tie rod ends and the sway bar stabilizer links. The rearend is getting new RTAB's and sway bar stabilizer links. I'm hoping the frontend is improved drastically because the car is driving horribly.

You have a 96-99 correct? The Treehouse racing Eyeball bushings are meant for 95 suspension geometry, and when used on 96-99, it creates excessive caster. On the 95 suspension, the LCA bushings were offset. On the 96-99s, the bushings were centered, but the arms were offset. You have offset arms and offset bushings, creating excessive caster and pushing your wheel too far forward. I would suggest either buying 95 LCA's or new LCAB's that are centered.
