People who want a CD43, step inside (NOT A FOR SALE THREAD)

The recent thread got deleted due to a misunderstanding, so i'll make this short and sweet.

There are a few sellers on eBay that sell the Rover branded CD43's. One guy in particular is located in England and seems to be a pretty stand up seller. His price is $199 + $35 shipping to the states + $12 insurance = $246 to your door.

What i'm proposing is contacting him about a group buy of sorts. He already has shipping charges set so each additional radio is $15 shipped instead of $35. But i'm looking to get a decent number of people interested in CD43's so we can hopefully get the price down a bit more.

The options would be to get them all shipped to one place (I could do the legwork and get them sent here), or see what he could do pricewise just for us bringing him a ton of sales. With the April meet coming up, the 2nd option may work for some people.

If you're interested, post up here so I get an idea of what kind of numbers I can promise him. Here's a link to an auction:

If you do not know what a Rover branded CD43 is, or why the CD43 is a nice option for people wanting iPod connectivity and OEM look...just say so. Either myself or someone else will chime in with more info.

Have you figured out how to get rid of the silkscreened Rover logo yet?

Is that pictured in the pictures the seller provides? I don't see anything.

How does the Ipod connectivity work with one of these?

Sounds over-simplified...but I was thinkin that Magic Eraser would take it off. :shifty:

I'll figure something out. Gotta get the unit first though, like Brett said. :thumbsup2:

            Nick,

You need to make sure these have iBus connectors. There WAS a CD43 without it, I had one and hated it. His pictures for the rear are generic, so confirm it.

They put a little M logo over it to cover the screened Rover emblem. Same radio, different logo.

For iPod connectivity, you buy a DICE unit.

I have one and the only ipod connectivity you could have is through the radio, but this is not different than any other head unit.

The ice is an option for the ipod, but I believe the ipod needs to take the place of the disc changer in order to do this, so that is useless as the ipod would be in the trunk (wtf is that).

I sent him a message about one particular auction and I know it did. But i'll confirm that he can provide CD43's with ibus and the correct colored display when I know how many units we'll be asking him for. :thumbsup2:

Good looking out though, it's definitely a good point.

                        You have no ibus.

Correct, you loose the changer with the DICE. The advantage of the CD43 is that you can still play CD's. With the stock head unit, you're stuck with cassette function + iPod.

That's not a CD43. That's the older BMW Business CD RDS. And since it has a totally different appearance, there's no way the seller is selling these. Not to mention that they never had the older non-IBUS CD player in the Rover, so if it has an M sticker, it must be a Rover CD43, which has IBUS.

I know it' physically different, and I wasn't sure on the Rover units other than the ones pictures should be true CD43's.
