Splitting Glove Box ... Not Sagging Glove Box

So it seems that the 98 degree weather this week isn't agreeing with my 12yo. I swam through the humidity to my car after work today to see that glove box is splitting in two. It is not actually sagging (the more common issue) because the back of the glove box sits up tight against the dash.

The only thing I can find on M3F is below; Google wasnt that helpful this time either.

I'm not saying this is a bad fix, I'm just wondering if any one else has had this problem and can think of a different way to repair it or any other ideas (besides purchasing a new glove box).

    Thanks in advance!!

Must be the southern heat. I had this problem, as well as the sagging problem. I super-glued it together and put several clamps to hold it together while it dried. Seemed to work pretty well. Now I just need to get around to fixing the sag.

I'll tackle it with something a bit stronger if it splits again.

Nice, I need to do this. The box doesn't really sag but the door does.

Thanks! I'll look around and try to find some automotive glue or maybe a two part epoxy and report back ...

mine was doing the same thing, I had the glove box out already when I was running stereo wires so I propped it up so that the glue would run down and spread out while it was clamped. It worked great.

Mine was doing the same thing I completely took the skin off the door removed the glue and used epoxy to put it back. looks better than it did new. I used a primer on it before i put it back together. It gets really hot down here in Georgia and it hasn't gotten loose in two years.

Had this problem until last spring...

Two part epoxy purchased at Home Improvement store did the job. Also pick up 4 or 5 c clamps if you don't already have them.

Remove the glove box (good time to do cabin air filter too), separate the parts and clean as well as you can.

Apply the epoxy, press together ensuring alignment.

I tightened the clamps on all 4 corners as well as a couple on the edge towards the middle. I also used small lengths of wood shims so as not to leave permanent marks from the clamp contact and to ensure even pressure along all edges.

                Let it sit overnight.

                Reinstall.

Been through two AZ summers and all is well.

Ditto, careful with the clamps. Like others have said, use something to even out the pressure or it'll leave marks.
