    Did most of you watch the show? It was about buying a car for TRACK DAYS, wasn't it?

    Who in their right minds would take those heaps to a track day in their current condition? They wouldn't pass a BMW CCA safety inspection.

    If you bought a M3/4 for $6K the purpose of doing track days, (like the one they bought) you are easily going to spend that much just making is safe. Not to mention the crash damage.

    It was entertaining, but not very realistic.

    I loved the Merc always reversing when taking off...lol Gotta love a dog leg tranny.The track day part got lost about two minutes into the show.

    Probably becuase it takes place on the other side of the pond the safety monitors here didnt get their panties in a knot.

    At least fitting the cars with similar tires and brake pads, and treating them to a tune would have made the comparison more realistic.

    It was entertainment - A cartoon played by buffoons.

    Remind me to tell you the story about the dog leg in a Datsun 310 we had. And the time it was valet parked. The attendant wasnt good at driving a stick and wouldnt let me pull it forward because he vehemently insisted he knew what he was doing. when he backed the car into a porsche....

      Prices are relatie :P

      My car costs 27k in Aus....

      But yeah, the whole point was entertainment, not serious consumer advice...

        I'd love to see Top Gear read these arguments from the forum on the show like they do for the Morris Marina lol

                  i personally think its an insult to the E36. C'mon man, those two "competitors" are not even from the same era. And despite the condition and horrid color combo, need not forget this is the immeasurable 3.2 evo he has --- would hate to see how our lower US version would fare.

                  entertainment = fine

                  E36 promo? hardly. in fact, i'd hide this video far far away.

                        Only cars that really get promo are new ones......That was pure entertainment of past history.
