What to do with old rotors and pads?

    Hey all--

Other than dumping them in the recycling bin (I think I can throw them in there... :hmm, is there anything I should be doing with my old brake rotors and pads? Keep as spares, yard art, etc?

    Thanks!!

(I'm kidding about the spares and yard art, btw... :shifty

Pads you can just throw away...rotors you can bring to metal scrapers for a couple bucks maybe.

Back on the island there were always pickup trucks riding around looking for scrap metal people were throwing out, I always gave them my rotors.

was wondering the same (the rotors, anyway). for discarded metal parts, in general, actually, like my old control arms (core refund, perhaps?). was just gonna take them to the landfill recycle area and toss them in with the dishwashers and old lawnmowers...maybe i'll see if my welder wants 'em, tomorrow. /shrug

My wife uses rotors for the base of her metal sculptures. Pads are nasty, and get thrown away.

I trash pads usually, rotors are recycled.

Try to recycle as much as I can, not because I like saving the environment, but because I want to keep long term metal costs down as much as possible.

Any scrap metal gets thrown in my scrap metal pile, which eventually gets thrown in my truck and brought to the junkyard to make some extra cash.

it's not always about saving the environment. if anything, recycle to keep the freakin' landfill from expanding into your backyard.

I take mine to AutoZone for recycling. Recycling is good. I can admit it!

That kind of falls under saving the environment. :lolhit:
