The thing about this setup is that it's a RACE shock, I knew this going in as should anyone who buys it. I drive this car on weekends and to autox/track. It's a toy, it's loud, rides stiff and is fast. There's no way I would REALLY want to drive it everyday in this configuration when there are so many other options out there for suspensions and cars.

For what they are they have done an excellent job. Anyone who is complaining should have thought more before purchasing them. End of story. When you use the wrong tool for a job you are asking for trouble.

so I bought race shocks for my race car, but they are the wrong tool? With what you just said, I bought the wrong tool, because I'm complaining, and should of thought more about buying race monotube shocks, for my pretty much track only, trailered track car....

As an owner of a race car you shouldn't complain after having to rebuild them after using them as intended. It's to be expected. Just like your new jrz suspension isn't going to last forever either. You also had these on when you were driving on the street, so dont act like your car was strictly a race car it's entire life.

Bobby has these and he beats on his car and as I recall he hasn't had any problems and likes them. So do tons of people at the track when I go so to tell you the truth the "10" people who have had problems out of how many sets sold? Doesn't really seem like a big deal.

I can see you saying the same thing about jrz the first time you have an issue and after a while it leads me to believe its something wrong with the driver/installer.

Because all of the things you have had an issue with, I have had the same parts without any problems. Not really sure what to think about that. No offense.

Street driving is probably harder on a car TBH.

It's obvious you haven't talked to him since he bought them. :lolhit:

You know I'm not a noob anymore. That stuff isnt going to work anymore. I have infinitely more experience than you think i do. And absolutely nothing to prove. If you don't like my opinion, that's entirely too bad.

            Nice try though.

I have about 18 months and maybe 15k miles on my 4100 set (600/650) on the E46 and have been very happy. On track, compared to being in a TCK S/A car they're notably less harsh at the same spring rates and, according to the TCK owner that has been in numerous AST cars, apparently have more "distinction" between damper settings (no personal experience there :twocents.

OP, if you are really looking for an upgraded "street" suspension, the TCKs probably make more sense. The AST shocks tend to dictate a pretty low ride height on the 36 especially, which isn't quite as friendly with soft spring rates (350/400). Obviously getting to ride/drive a couple cars would be ideal, but if the car has no concrete track plans the more street-oriented suspension is probably the way to go.

HAHAHAHAHA... andrew telling me I dont know how to use/install/maintain my AST shocks... THAT'S rich....

go beat feet somewhere else Andjoo..

When I say 10+ people, thats LOCAL people, not 'internet' friends. People I have direct contact with, interact with, and track with.

Swaybar brackets rotating on track - have ruined 6 tires valued between $200-$250 a tire. ruined 3 rims $260 -$400 a piece

Shocks leaking.. how does that have ANYTHING to do with the owner of the car?

knuckle attachment points.. bolts torque'd to spec, and it ovalizes the mounting on the shock?

adjusters not changing the shocks correctly.. thats internal issues inside the shocks

I barely had 2 seasons on my shocks and had to have them rebuilt, not once, but TWICE. There is a serious issue there.

JRZ's, since u brought them up, have been known to go as long as 7-8 YEARS without needing a rebuild, with zero issues. All RACE miles, on the track, being beat to shiet on curbing, dropping wheels in the grass, and running extremely high spring rates (800-1100 ft/lbs)

when you THINK you know what the hell you are talking about Andrew, come back and let me know. Until then, keep working in your dad's garage, and learning on the internet.

I've got a wiring harness to dissect, and re-install in a race car

Never said I knew everything but certainly more than what you think I do. But thats cool, install your harness, pretty nice.

I literally do not see how you were ruining rims. I've seen you mention that to terry and he told you to rotate the collar. Mine have never rotated or ruined any wheels. Nor have the other sets I have seen in person. Terry also told you that you installed them incorrectly. Everyone makes mistakes.

And honestly Roland, grow up. Literally no one asked you, you're not needed in this discussion. Not sure why you think you need to be involved. Does Calvin need backup? Probably not.

But go ahead and brag about awesome you are, it's fine. Not sure why you feel like you need to prove you're a big man and you're so much better. Literally don't understand it.

I thought this was a discussion about ASTs? I was among the first to buy the damn things on this forum, Chris and Eric probably being the only ones before me, and among the first to sell them as well. But I guess personal experience with the product isn't relevant.
