    Repairing headliner tips

So my headliner is sagging really badly and it's gotten to the point where I can't stand how bad it looks. I got some headliner glue from O'Reilly and I'm getting ready to respray it.

I know I should remove it completely, sand down the old glue and then respray, but I'm trying to avoid that.

Can anyone give me any pointers? Should I try to remove the old glue a bit before I reapply? I should pull it towards the middle right?

It has the classic sag. All around the sunroof and straight back. Still holding on at the edges and on the pillars.

You will not be successful in reapplying the old fabric in any type of satisfactory way. It had a foam backing that is now on the liner and not on the fabric. Removing the foam/glue is a must and without it the fabric will look wrong, probably be stretched and likely have some glue seep through. If nothing else go to a local body/upholstery shop and buy a few yards of headliner materiel (it is super cheap, maybe $20-30 tops) and do it right. Plenty of good DIY's out there on this topic as well. Make sure the glue you purchased is high-temp (most of them are not) or it will come undone in the heat of summer. Ask me how I know. :-)

      Ha, how do you know?

I was hoping to avoid replacing the headliner but I knew deep down it was impossible.
