    What injectors for S50B30 Euro

    Hi

Mine injectors are going dark side, need to change them.

Would like to put new, try to avoid used but don't wanna pay ridiculous price from BMW. They offer them for 120eur/100 GBP (150 USD) here in Europe.

In the process of trying to find what would fit, i learned that stock injectors are Bosch 0280150701.

    Witchhunter say they are 236cc/min @ 3bar:

I found out that few european cars run same injectors, like Fiat Punto GT Turbo 1.4 and Lancia Kappa V6 3.0 24v.

Also, some run very similar injectors like Saab 2.0 Turbo cars and Bosch 0280150706 injectors which have just few % higher flow rate.

What's imporatant is that new injectors are cheaper at Fiat/Lancia and Saab, also many shops quote less when you say you need them for Fiat and not BMW M3

There are also options to go with some higher flow rate injectors, most common and affordable are found on US Fords and similar cars.

In the mean time, i learned that these injectors are EV1, and plastic EV6 should be better regarding spray pattern. They cost similar money, so that's not an issue. What is a question is should i go with new type or stay with "good ol'" EV1.

Can anyone help, should i use EV6 on my S50B30 ? Maybe go higher flow rate just for the sake of safety (richer AFR) ?

    Thanks

Alternatively, you could try http://stores.ebay.com.au/Mr-Injector and change the pintle caps and filter screens and see if they are truly dying, or they just need a refresh. I've used these kits on a variety of cars including my own and never had an issue. I have an ultrasonic bath at my disposal, but i've never found any residue from the injectors when stripped.

Actual injectors are giving a rough idle, they are also leaking i think. Consumption .. not sure, don't really care about it that much, and driving style is very non consistent.

We tried to clean them few times, but seem to old/tired i really think it's time for new ones.

It can be something else of course, but we checked coils, AFM, FPR... and injectors are certainly beyond their life expectancy with 15+ years and almost 100k mles.

Nevertheless, could you recommend what do i need from Mr. Injector, it's worth a try if it doesn't cost too much?

      Thanks

Been a while since i've done this, and i cannot find my receipt but i *think* they are the deka siemens type: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BMW-Deka-Siemans-Fuel-Injector-Service-Kit-6-Cylinder-/200750997743?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories &hash=item2ebdb120ef

        If not, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BMW-Injector-Service-Kit-Caps-O-Rings-Filters-6CYL-/360568429365?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories &hash=item53f38d9b35

Both kits will be under the US$40 mark so it's well worth checking. The seats in the injector should be ok unless it's sat for years or had low grade/ high sulphur fuel through them for a while.

Try running some Redline SI-1 or SI-2 (packaged as BMW p/n 88886900307) before and after the injector kit, as the injector seat may have lots of crap sticking to the detergent used in fuel.

Also check the coil resistances in each injector and see if they are around +/-5% of each other.

Couple of cheap options that may save you from buying a set of injectors

I now have S50B32 injectors working perfectly but will change them due to my supercharger project. If needed send me a PM

While ive never cleaned and refreshed injectors on my own, I've sent them out to a service for refreshment.

One benefit is they do protesting, and post testing. Spray pattern and flow are quantified.

If possible, get some more used ones, send in extra, and you can put together the set that is closest matched.

Also, swap in a new TPS. They develop rough spots, and are a wear item. ICV can get sticky as well, worth cleaning.

Great tips presented for DIY on the injectors! Thanks!

I wish i was able to test the flow, but all i did was rig up the freon dead weight tester and used a square wave gen to cycle them onto some fuel sample paper. Prior to cap/screen change the S50s spray patterns were ok, a few sprayed out a bit wide, i did the M42s at the same time and they were pretty horrible showing a crescent moon type shape. After the changes to both sets they were all a uniform pattern etc.

The S50 only had 140,000km whereas the 318iS had around 280,000km on the clock; now its around 145,000km and 320,000km respectively and the M42 has dailied for 2yrs since with no hiccups as it had previously. The S50 as you know, loves drama however :thumbsup2:

I decided to buy 6 reconditioned injectors.

Model 0 280 150 761, genuinly for many Saab's Turbo. They flow 2% more thab genuine ones, shouldn't be an issue.

I will doublecheck AFR with wideband beforea and after change, great chance to learn how much ECU is capable to adapt.

They should be here in few days, so expect some update in next week.
