Some of the parts I absolutely love. The mirrors and the rear diffuser, while definitely different from the already great looking OEM pieces, are awesome.

Also, the type 1 wheels are the best looking wheel ever designed for the e30/e36.

Any schnitzer parts post 2000 look pretty awful though.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. You're an OE guy so I know where you're coming from.

While its styling may bring different visual impacts, I am more than certain that the quality and workmanship of AC Schnitzer products for the E36 are just as good, as not better than the OE parts.

Gah. Sorry in advance, but ACS makes some of the ugliest BMW parts I have ever seen.

If you can find the Type II mirrors I'd say buy them.

I am sure you'll be even happier with they way look on your M3.

I'm not a fan of the type 2 mirrors. Thats why I bought the type 1. My favourites are the RD cup mirrors, but they might as well not even exist they are so rare.

If I knew you liked them 15 years ago I would've kept and sold them to you.

They're even more narrow than the Type I mirrors and visibility is almost non-existent with the RD mirrors.

I almost bought a really heavily modded euro m3 with them.

The car was just a basket case though so I passed and got mine. You got that right about the no field of vision though haha! I loved the RD stuff back then.

Cool mirrors. Like braymond I'm more of an OE guy but I don't mind the compact look of those mirrors.

That "compact" style was originally on the E30 if I'm not mistaken though it was slightly different for the E36. Some E30 pics attached.

I also like the the Type 1 wheel but preferred their Type 2 a little more.

But if we're talking the best aftermarket wheels for the E36 M3 I gotta go with BBS LM or RCj.

This RCj "arrived in the mail" years ago.

RCj's are quite rare as some of you know. The blue center cap is unobtanium. Anyone know what the "j" stands for in RCj?

Those are modified center caps but I also have the originals.

                  J stands for Jim's.

MMMMMM RCs are another favourite of mine. Totally different style with the flat face and no lip, but fit the e36 lines perfectly. When I was 17 I was going to buy a set of RC321 in 4x100 and 16x7.5 for my e30 but then I realized I worked at a skate shop for very little money and would stick with my shitty TSWs.

My affinity for the aftermarket comes from always reading PBMW, PVW and Golf+ when I was 15-20. Some of the cars were just insane. Looking back, some haven't aged well, but some parts still hold their own as very period correct cool mods.

                      Those RCJ... Uhhh. Love.

I have RCJs with a staggered setup and would love to square my setup by finding a pair of 18x9s

I agree with Jim E, in my mind the best aftermarket wheels for an e36 and narrowly better than the LM because the LM didn't come in an ideal size or offset for the E36

                          Japan right?

Cools wheel. Definitely one of my favorites, after RS's.

ACS used to be cool. If you look in the E36 catalog from back then, some nice stuff.

The stuff they put out nowadays, really tacky and uninspired.

That is correct. Forged wheels for BBS were primarily made in Japan by a company called Washi Beam which is essentially a BBS partner.

The blue center caps with silver lettering were only available for their magnesium wheels.

Cool brochure, how old is that? I've been to the RAYS factory in Osaka about 4 years ago, their processes are very similar. God I love Japan.

Very nice. I had to buy two sets in order to have the option of running 18x9 square. I just got lucky finding the additional set as the seller was literally 25 minutes away and didn't want to ship.

Maybe at least 4 years but likely more.
