Noticed a stuck rear brake caliper today and went to buy a replacement. Immediately got confused trying to look up the caliper part numbers. RealOEM lists 34212283164 for the left side caliper and 34212283163 for the right side caliper. However, when I Googled those PNs, there were pages indicating that it was the other way around (34212283164 right, 34212283163 left), and some that seemed not to know what side each PN was for.
AFAICT, this is because the E6x M5/M6 share the calipers but use them on the opposite sides. So, 34212283164 is LR on the E9x M3 but RR on the E6x M5/M6, and 34212283163 is the other way around. Makes sense as the rear calipers are positioned differently (forward for E9x, rearward for E6x).
Eeuroparts specifies which side each PN fits on each car, and their info lines up with RealOEM. All the other sites I saw in my brief browsing listed each PN only as either right or left for all cars.
EDIT: FCP Euro has confirmed the above and said they would edit their fitment info for these calipers accordingly.

FWIW.
