    MSS60 241E US to ECE Release? Problems?

    Hello,

    I bought a BMW E90 M3 LCI from US and imported it to Germany.
    I checked Release with MSSFlasher. It is 241E.
    I've read that there is a different between US Release and ECE Release. Is it true and where I can find some information about it?What is the correct ZusB Nr for ECE?
    Also I read that some US people flashed to ece release because engine got more power but are there any problems after it - maybe DMTL?

    Regards Andre

    Hi Andre,

    I did some investigation towards the 241E program stand and its related versions

    The M3 came in 3 versions, 91,92 and 93 meaning ECE Left hand drive, ECE Right hand drive and USA.
    If you check your VIN it will always start with WBS (motorsport) and then 4 digits come. This is the type.
    These types are available,

    Code:
    E90 VA91/92/93 ECE L/ECE R/USA
    E92 WD91
    E93 WL91
    E90 LCI PM91
    E90 LCI PK91 CRT specific
    E92 LCI KG91 GTS and others
    E93 LCI DX91
    So besides the e90, e91, e92 and e93 these are marketing/country versions.

    The following ZUSB are available for 241E
    Code:
    7854371,7844915,7854317,A,7850264DA,0FFFFFFFFFD,00 0,1 I , $REFERENZ 0569QT0Z240EEKTV1 E      GTS
    7854372,7844915,7854317,A,7848128DA,0FFFFFFFFFD,00 0,1 V , $REFERENZ 0569QT0Z240EEKGV0 8    CRT
    7854373,7843727,7854317,A,7848130DA,0FFFFFFFFFD,00 0,1 B , $REFERENZ 0569QT0Z240EEKFV0 5    ONLY LCI
    7854374,7838724,7854317,A,7848132DA,0FFFFFFFFFD,00 0,1 V , $REFERENZ 0569QT0Z240EEKCV0 W   ONLY ECE L (China?)
    7854375,7838841,7854317,A,7848134DA,0FFFFFFFFFD,00 0,1 8 , $REFERENZ 0569QT0Z240EEKJV0 H     ONLY ECE L/R per+LCI E90/92 807 = japan
    7854376,7838840,7854317,A,7848136DA,0FFFFFFFFFD,00 0,1 G , $REFERENZ 0569QT0Z240EEKUV0 E   ONLY ECE L/USA (manual USA confirmed) 802 = Korea
    7854377,7838724,7854317,A,7848138DA,0FFFFFFFFFD,00 0,1 M , $REFERENZ 0569QT0Z240EEKEV0 2    ONLY ECE L/R
    7854371 &
    7854372 are used in the S65B44 engines for CRT and GTS (4.4 liter) and if you look through the file only the (software) number is different. Seems BMW needs a software version for each vehicle although they are equal calibration terms. Only DKG.
    7854373 seems to be only available in the LCI models, ECE L en R. I do see this ZUSB in DKG only vehicles so far
    7854374 seems to relate to ECE Left handed only. In my old SP_Daten files it was refered to China
    7854375 Mainly ECE Left and Right drive with option 807 = Japan.
    7854376 Mainly listed as XX93 = USA and XX91 with option $802 which might mean Korea. Maybe due to fuel quality this is both used in USA and Korea. Might only be 6MT/Manual transmission
    7854377 Only ECE L&R

    371 = CRT
    372 = GTS
    373 = ECE LCI
    374 = China?
    375 = Japan?
    376 = USA (and Korea?)
    377 = ECE

    I am not sure if the ECU does a self learning if 6MT/SMG or DKG is present.

    If you PM me your current VIN and ZUSB I might be able to find out which ZUSB are optional for your car.

      it would help if people could post there
      1. 4th to 7th VIN -> WBSVA91 !!! don't worry this does not give the actual VIN (LAST 7 digits).
      2. Country delivered from origin
      3. Gearbox
      4. Current ZUSB (easily viewed with INPA)

      The ECU might detect CAN-BUS messages from DKG and SMG to set its gearbox type correctly. All gear ratios(?) and at least final drive ratio of each version are listed in the ECU.

      I have the following cars done and have there AIF/UIF info:
      WD93 USA 6MT 376
      WD91 NLD DKG 377 -> old ZUSB 7848139
      WD93 USA 6MT 376
      VA93 USA 6MT 376
      VA91 D DKG 377
      KG92 LCI ENG/IRE DKG 373
      KG91 LCI FR DKG 373
      KG91 LCI ??? DKG 373

      We can confirm
      371 = CRT no doubt correctly
      372 = GTS no doubt correctly

      373 = ECE LCI -> ECE LCI confirmed so far only DKG (S2MKA option code)
      374 = China?
      375 = Japan?

      376 = USA (and Korea?) -> USA confirmed so far only 6MT (SMG/DKG delivered to USA?)
      377 = ECE -> ECE confirmed so far only DKG (S2MKA option code)

        The main differnce is evaporation diagnostic (DMTL).
        If you have an ECE car and flash US Zusb. you will get DMTL error.
        If you have an US car and flash ECE Zusb. you will get problems with smoke check in US.
        If you have an US car and drive in Germany with ECE Zusb, no problems at all.
        There is no difference in power output between US and ECE

          Just had a manual car with ZUSB 377 in it. Can be confirmed that gearbox type is not depended on ZUSB and is "self-learning". Hence the multiple amount of differential ratios listed in the binary.

            So, i have a US Model wd93 with 2mk and driving in Germany. My m3 is supercharged so the tuner get the latest 241 ece or 240 ece cant remember, was in November 2021 and than tuned it. But my dkg/dct is still on US According to zusb Nummer. Can I Flash to ece without Problems in my MSS60 right?

              No! You will loose the tune!

              If you mean ->
              Can I Flash to ece without Problems in my DKG/DCT right?
              Then I would suspect Yes in case the tuner didn't adjust it. M3 GTS/CRT DKG is popuair.

                  Flashing DKG will be fine. Use GTS, you will be fine with it.
                  Otherwise contact member Olza. He is able to provide tunes for the DKG.
