There's a member on here who 3D printed his own intake and the sound clips are pretty awesome! He also doesnt make false claims about HP gains. This can be had for about $250 which is a bargain in my opinion.

I like that it utilizes both air sources and do not use an aluminum maf housing. That said, I hate the red logo. It would have been nice if they did not put a text on every part of this thing. Unfortunately, our options are now very limited if you don't care to spend $1k on a ram air design or higher for a full carbon box.

You may be an older gentleman, but we're no 18 year olds either anymore. You're dealing with (mostly) 30 and 40 year olds who have ensconced themselves in this shit for 10-20 years. The chassis is 20+ years old; not many unturned stones left.

I think we all know what works and what doesn't work on this chassis. It's also been proven that intake alone really doesn't make a ton of power over stock unless coupled with exhaust, tune and possibly cams. BMW designed a pretty well flowing intake system in stock form.

I think it is hard to replicate the gains of an intake on a dyno if airflow improved. You can feel a difference if you increase the air pressure around the filter at higher speeds.

The factory CSL was only rated at 355 HP...a full 12 more than the euro m3.

I have seen dynos from UK guys, even Marty who is a well respected member has tested CSL v Eventuri on a cam’d engine and literally there was nothing between the two.

Right. But it requires tuning and a lot more cost. Plus it's not smog legal for those of us in California. So for those of us who want a cheaper plug and play intake that yea, of course is not as good as a CSL airbox setup, there are basically only a couple options. Lots of he said she said about heat soak, losing power, etc... Take that with a grain of salt, but notably, no actual comparison test has been done with dyno numbers and heat information. At least none I can find.

I don't doubt that it improves the sound. Any intake sound is better than no intake sound IMO. Someone really should do an intake shoot out with actual dynos and measured air temps.

Wow. There are some closed-minded folks on here who seem more concerned with vanity. Do the nay-sayers drive with the hood up? I have a 2001 M3 Vert with 57,000 miles on it. I installed an Injen Evolution airbox about a year ago, and I love it. Not only does it enhance the sound nicely but there are noticeable power gains. I'm 62 years old, and I have been working on my own cars all my life, muscle cars, exotics, complete teardowns, etc., so I know cars and not giving this airbox a thumbs up because I bought it.

Sounds like you're giving it a thumbs up because you bought it.
