    Rearview mirror baseplate replacement steps

Just got my rearview mirror back from radar-mirror, went to reattach it to the windshield, and it won't go back on. I can feel the mirror base going flush, and when I go to turn/twist the mirror back into place, the mirror just pops out like it can't lock into the grooves. Upon further examination, there's a small piece of tape that (I assume) the previous owner must've put up there years ago, which was concealing the top-right tab from the mirror baseplate which has sheared off (item #4 in this diagram: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...89#51164363962). Didn't notice the tape or the damage previously as I was anxious to get my soon-to-leak mirror out of the car before damage occurred. I would prefer to get a new baseplate part and put it back properly, though the janky tape method did hold up for at least 7.5 years...

Been reading a bit and there is another procedure for replacing the baseplate listed on bimmerfest, but the thought of hammering a scraper between the glass and the baseplate seems potentially foolish. The post also lists Loctite 03325 as a preferred 2-part adhesive for this job. Curious if anyone else has done this and what procedure/results they've had.
