It's my company's datacenter space - so we owe all the hardware in the picture above. But it's inside a Colo in the San Diego area.

Yes, there are lots of backups! We do a full server backup every night and it is uploaded offsite. And just in case I'm run over by a truck, the backup is shared with the other admins here and they have an "omg Liam isn't here how do we get the forum going again" guide. haha Hopefully that never happens of course!


As promised, here are some pictures of the new vanos forums server - we use 10 of the 24 disk slots:



And here is my datacenter space, arrow points to vanos! And yes, those are all hard drives, about 6-7 petabytes worth of storage

Okay, allll done. That took a bunch longer than I expected... But the upgrade went smoothly, new drives, new 2u server case, and I added more memory. Enjjoyyy. I snapped a few pictures, I'll post them later...it's bedtime for me.

Hi everybody. I put up a notice but I also wanted to start a thread here since the forum maintenance tonight is going to require me to physically power off the server while I do some work so the website will go completely dark from about 11:30pm PST until maybe 1-2am. Generally, we just redirect everybody to a maintenance page during maintenances but that won't be possible tonight.

I'm going to be replacing the server chassis with a newer model and swapping out some of the SSDs. I'll also be applying the latest Linux security patches.

Sorry about the downtime ahead of time.
