Recent Karbonius orders

Great info in this thread and I'm still researching--this might be next after the full SS 2.5" system goes on.

So, the Karb "CSL Race" v "CSL Full Carbon" differences come down to what, just integrated snorkel? No extra parts required? Maybe I'm just slow today but after reading threads and Karb's site, I'm still not clear on differences or what makes a "complete" airbag setup (sans tuning and the MAP hardware, IAT, etc). Seems maybe the "Race" is preferred here? Also, 2x2 gloss is the look of the original OE CSL airbox?

Less is needed!

The "race" version was developed for cars running something other than a CSL stock bumper while still going for a lower, colder air feed than a fully opened box. With the snorkel, you need the snorkel ducting, grill and .. a CSL bumper, along with everything else it entails.

My haimus racing snorkel arrived. Can confirm it fits perfectly to the karbonius airbox.




The hardware supplied by haimus did not fit as the nut interfered with the flange on the karb


And IMO the bolt would have been too long and looked odd anyway so I used the OEM bolts that the OEM CSL airbox uses with a bit of blue loctite.

I did still use the collars haimus give you which press nicely into the holes on the snorkel.


I will say the quality of the snorkel piece from haimus did leave a little bit to be desired in terms of finish. As it came out of the box from shipping there were marks which I thought would wipe off but did not. The finish is very soft, comparable to some of the interior plastics where it feels as though if you breathe on it the wrong way it will leave a permanent mark. Tbh I'll probably end up painting it myself because I'm pretty sure I could get a more durable finish with spray paint.

But as a more OEM looking, cheaper than karbonius snorkel alternative, I'm happy with it.

Very interesting experiment. I like the rugged aspect of the Haimus snorkel: have you fitted it to a CSL bumper as well? I appreciated not caring about scratching it up when I did.

This is exactly it. It's a lot of headache to maybe save a few bucks.

I've stopped offering Karbonius via EuroConnex on individual orders and will work with Turner via ConnexPlus when/if they green light this.

Do you guys know if Karbonius sells a plug for the hole that exists at the bottom of the intake meant for CSL air ducts? If not, does anyone have a solution / piece that fits?

When I ordered through EuroConnex The invoice didn't quite match the website. Matt had to go in and adjust it manually. The Karbonious invoice was also different and Matt had to get that adjusted too. Both adjustments were quick and easy.

That's weird, just checked and noticed the ssme thing. I asked Matt a bunch of times how to pay directly with my card or bank account but he never got it set up.

The Karb box is more expensive but even with Paypal fees the CSL roof I ordered ended up being $350+ less ordering from Euroconnex vs Karb directly! Wonder why one item was a way better deal than the other.

Odd but good to know in case I decide to order a roof this summer. Btw the $2058 figure doesn’t include the $107 PayPal fee. For the intake, I think I’m just gonna order thru ECS.

I guess I missed out on the fun exchange rates. Buying a Race airbox is $2030 directly thru Karb. $1915 shipped thru ECS (ship date late May tho). And euroconnex is $1845, but we’ll see what the actual invoice shows. If the exchange rate with the euroconnex order is off, I’ll prob go with ECS. At least they don’t charge until the product is ready to ship (assuming no drop shipping).

It will depend on your CC company. My CC company does not charge a foreign transaction fee. You will have to pay shipping and Duty Tax depending on the value of your purchase. I purchased directly from Karbonius on their site using a CC. I would just pay attention to the euro to dollar conversation rate.

Yup. Looks like those who do get charged a fee pay around $60. ECS said I wouldn’t have to pay an import fee.
