Awesome! My first aircooled was an 1980 911SC and I had that for 7 years. Miss it dearly and prefer it over the 3.2 which I currently have. They're easy to tinker with, rewarding to drive, and have a ton of character.
No comment on the 911 vs M3 crowd... Aircooled folks in general are cool but the PCA guys with the new stuff are mostly dorks from my experience.

Stock vs stock, the 981 GTS is more fun than the M3, but a well-modded/set up M3 beats the 981 IMO. I could never see myself replacing my heavily modded M3 with my 981 GTS. It did, however, replace my nearly stock M3.Originally posted by simon_c View PostIn an ideal world I would always have an E46 M3 in the garage but it's hard not to want to get into something new from time to time. It's going to be a 981 or 718 2.5L GTS manual cayman for me I think. Just really don't want to get rid of the E46M for it.

There's a reason Bisimoto picked the Porsche market as his new pool of idiots.

The Porsche community is definitely worse in general though. We work with Porsche people a lot, some are great obviously, but there's a very large percentage of knobs with whom I like to play a game where I try to talk to them about literally anything except for their own car(s). They just kind of go blank inevitably. BMW people are cringy in their own unique ways but it's not the same.Originally posted by discoelk View Post
Not so different than the E46M community. 😄
Nice cars OP.

Well they're from Queens I think lolOriginally posted by antknee View PostI think the funniest moment of the meet yesterday was seeing who i thought was Vin from Hoonigans. Kept walking by the dude, and was gonna say something. As he drove away in a red e46, i tap over to my buddy and said “that dude looks just like Vin from Hoonigans”. He replies, yeah that’s bc it’s his brother LOL

It's also because the Porsche community is like 5% people who actually know about cars, know how to drive, and appreciate any given car for what it is, and like 95% people who get passed by Miatas in the corners but have lots of Rennsport Reunion socks
Nice cars OP.

I'd be curious to hear your thoughts after owning for the same duration as the m3.
