It’s because you could have had an e36 for under $10k for years so it’s basically impossible to find a decent condition e36. That’s why I’m sure when a nice one comes around, they are overpriced bc the supply of non-clapped out shitboxes is low.

They are close, but the e36 is older and I think there are less with low mileage. Greatest m3 ever is subjective. The e36 is better in some ways. Plus Dakar is the most sought after color, and Alpine has always been up there too.

Might be a combination of both however just two days ago a 99 yellow with 131k miles sold for $29K and a white 96 with 99k miles sold for $24,500. Similar E46 M3’s with those miles are the same if not less than what these E36’s are getting. I understand if they were low mileage examples however most I see completed aren’t.

Just like the title says are E36 M3’s starting to gain values while the E46 M3’s are softening and going down? Wonder why thats happening when most used to say the E46 M3 is one of the greatest M3’s ever made?
