Harbor Freight Jack Stand Recall

Quick Jacks are the way to go. They had them on sale for $1000 shipped a while back, what a deal.

Purchased a QJ5000 about a month ago from Costco sale. Still has shipped yet though as they are "experiencing significant backorders" according to QJ. Can't wait though.

I think the key is redundancy. Like if one jack fails there are other supporting points to prevent an accident.
If I want it completely in the air, I use all 6 jack points.
If I want the front to be up, then I use all three front jack points.
Or if I dont need to remove the wheels, then I use the $50 advanced auto car ramp and the two front jack points with the scissor jacks as back up support
You get the idea, I would simply never trust a single jack/support
Also it helps to actually place the jacks on even surfaces. You'd be surprised how people misuse simple tools with catastrophic resultsLast edited by yhp2009; 06-13-2020, 12:33 PM.

Thank you Sir. It's still a pain because my car is so low that I need to get something under the tires so I have clearance to get the jack to reach the center points.Originally posted by Tbonem3 View Post
Right under the subframe where it flattens out (rectangle) under the diff Z! Could go under the flat rectangle of the v brace as well, but that's further in, harder to reach, unnec due to the place i first mentioned.
That's why I am really considering these safe jacks. One day I will get a lift....

Yea that way you can move on to another jacking point and not have jack from the center of the car. I am okay jacking from the center point in the front of the car. Still iffy where you are supposed to jack from the rear. I don't want to jack on the Diff.

Just watched that video, that's super neat. Love that you can jack and stand all in one step.

I have jack stands to go along with the quick jack (as anyone should). There is a time and a place for all of them, but the quick jack is my go to for most jobs as it is easy to use and incredibly solid.Originally posted by Seagull View Post
Yeah looking at the price point on a lot of these "better" jack stands, making a pretty large dent into the cost of a quickjack system. If you have the space and can work some OT or save a little more, why wouldnt you just get the quickjack?
Wonder what im going to buy at HF with my recall money. Heard their ladders are affordable ๐
On the big jobs I still put a set of stands underneath when using the quickjack as an extra insurance policy, but I would get under there with the quickjack only long before I would do the same with just a set of stands.

I have a set of the ESCO's but I always thought they were knock offs of the AC jack stands.

Really ? Seems worlds more stable with a huge base in the longitudinal direction and at least twice as large laterally. I dont know what their failure catch is though so maybe that's the concern?Originally posted by Obioban View PostI donโt find my quick jack more reassuring than jack stands ๐ค
